The Sun Country PGA was established in 1974 as one of the 41 Sections that make up the Professional Golfers Association of America. The mission of the Sun Country Section PGA is to promote participation and enjoyment in the game of golf for all levels of golfers. The Section is a leader in junior golf with a well-established Junior Tour. Sierra del Rio is part of the Sun Country Section which includes the state of New Mexico and El Paso County, Texas. It currently has 136 PGA members and 55 PGA apprentices.

The Sun Country Amateur Golf Association, founded in 1976, is the governing body of amateur golf in the region. The Sun Country AGA covers all facets of golf administration, including course measuring and rating, handicapping and rules, along with conducting regional championships and USGA qualifiers. The goal of the Sun Country AGA is to uphold and promote the traditions of the game for all amateur golfers in the region. To become a member of the Sun Country AGA, simply sign up at Sierra del Rio. You will receive a USGA/GHIN handicap index, editions of the Sun Country Golfer Newspaper and become eligible to receive discounts at participating businesses. In addition, your membership supports amateur and junior golf in the region, and allows the Association to conduct our important services on a daily basis.
